Coconut-A Super Food for Super Nutrition

Summer is HERE! The weather is already heating up and drinking enough water is critical for our overall health. Adding coconut water to your diet gives you the benefit of increased vital nutrients and electrolytes that are not offered in bottled sugar laden energy drinks.
Coconut palm trees are prehistoric plants related to grasses so they have the ability to pull large amounts of minerals from the soil. Coconut palms can absorb nearly every mineral known to be useful for human nutrition. In Sanskrit coconut palms are known as "kappa vishkra" meaning the tree that supplies all that is needed for life..
The  coconut meat, water and the oil of young coconut is revitalizing to nearly every cell of the body. Encased in the sterile nut, the clear coconut water is one of the highest sources of electrolytes found in nature.Young coconut water is nearly identical to human blood plasma making it a universal donor. In WWII water siphoned from the coconut was actually used in emergency blood transfusions.
The saturated fats in coconut products are vital for the health and growth of our brain and essential for proper development in kids.Coconut water is great for rehydration and a excellent tonic for all ages. The cooling effects on the body are great at reversing the overheating of the body that happens when temperatures rise in the summer.
Before you reach for Gatorade or Powerade for replenishing electrolytes, I suggest using one of the best super foods that nature provides...Coconut water! In the current food market coconut water can be purchased in individual cartons for easy use on the go. I recommend  making sure its organic, not from concentrate and in a wax carton as opposed to plastic. For a summer treat try blending coconut water with your favorite fresh strawberries, pineapple or blueberries.
